A Texas Style Christmas Rag Wreath (with a little help from my friends)

Okay, so Marie you were right, it's the stuff to make a rag wreath. If I was having a contest you would have won. Oh, speaking of winning, this will be my 87th post. That means we are coming very close to the big 100. I will be celebrating that one with a giveaway. I'll give you a hint... if you like my Etsy shop, I promise you will love the giveaway!

I had seen rag wreaths, and never tried making one. I wanted something new for my front door this year and this is what I came up with. I'll post step by step...

Materials needed:

Pinking shears

Wire form for wreath (I used 18")

1 yd ea. of 3 desired materials

Star for embellishing in the end

(Optional, a couple of kitties to help you along)

First you need to cut your material into strips. I did approximately 1 in. by 5 in. strips. Those who are near and dear to me know that I hate to do precise measurements so this project is easy because it is very forgiving. Speaking of precise measurements. It was during the course of making this wreath I decided quilting would not be for me!

Tie your pieces to the wire. I did a pattern of red, tan, green to keep things consistent. Just keep going around until...

You need to take a break and get a work in progress picture. Note my little helper. And then you do a little more and leave your project in the middle of the living room floor to take another break and find...

Your other helper thinks it makes a better bed than decoration!

I was pretty pleased with the end result, but thought it need one more touch...

I found the star at Bed Bath and Beyond. Please don't judge the front door, I know it is badly in need of refinishing. And the weather left a lot to be desired today but oh well...what is it we say in the blog world? Hey, I'm just keeping it real!
